Snail Trail Tales 2

This game is a sequel to Snail Tail Tales  game introduces new levels (79 in total) and a new chapter of the story.  The story is about a snail who has to deal with her narcissist mother.  This new version also tracks how many turns you make and you get more points for a higher score.

How to play:

Use arrows or wasd to control the slimer and absorb the food.  If you can absorb all of the food then you win!

Background:

This took some doing to get it working properly.  I programmed this in 16 bit real mode using Borland C++ entirely in DOSBox.  It only uses BIOS interrupts.  its only 7,136 bytes and that is including the extra junk Borland put in there.

Future:

Possibly there will be more Snail Trail Tales with different stories in the future.  Possibly the player will have to navigate through mazes in the process.

How to get it running:

This game runs in DOSBox, Boxer, or on real PC MS-DOS hardware. 

On Mac:

1. Drag the `.com` file onto the `Boxer app`.  It should start.  Thats it.

Alternately:

1. Download and Open DOSBox

2. type `mount c ./` to mount the current folder (or whatever folder the .COM file is in) 

3. type `c:` to go to that folder

4. type `STT2` to run the game

If that doesn't work here are some instructions about getting DOSBox working on Mac

On other Modern Computers:

Use the .COM file from the zip.  The process should be similar to Mac but possibly you can drag the game (the .COM file) into the DOSBox window or onto the icon and it will work right away.  That didn't work for me but if not here are some more instructions about getting DOSBox working on Windows Hint: To skip levels press 'n'.

On Old Computers:

Or for the adventurous and enterprising MS-DOS users out there the .COM file should run in any version of DOS on ancient computers even as far back as 286's and before.    I haven't and cant test it on an old machine but please let me know what you find out if you do.
